The Web: The Rules

<< I hereby announce my candidacy for the office of CSRR as well. . . . I belive that 1), we should spend our energy on the future of the Ackanomic ruleset, not on past typos and quirks, and 2) the typos, quirks, and eggs in the current ruleset allow for charm and potentially interesting situations. Who would want the CSRR to go back and clarify the "Gumball" rule, for example?
Malenkai
Candidate for CSRR >>

There's an old saying that says that, in effect, A civilization which does not remember its past has no future. It's a stretch to apply it here, but I believe that the current ruleset is important, as WELL as the development of future rules. So, I believe that in many ways the future of the ruleset IS the past. The platform of the Committee to Elect Dan Marsh CSRR Officer (I should have come up with a snazzier title for that post) shall be: I will issue a CSR about once a week, with the intent of cleaning up ambiguities in the rules. (It should average once a week, but it won't be regular. Like the past week when political stuff takes up my time, I won't _always_ have the time to pore over the rule set. I'll probably end up retiring from the game completely, or at least taking a sabbatical of a few months, shortly after Labor Day.)

All checks should be made out to the Committee to Elect Dan Marsh CSRR Officer. No corporate checks, please. The Michigan Bureau of Elections require us to report the occupation and employer of all persons whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 per calendar year. Yada yada yada, ad infinitum et absurdum.

After this message went into the queue, but before it went out, I caught proposal 747 among the mail I had yet to read:
Proposal 747 - Mon May 13 21:26:07 EDT 1996
Removal of Nonfunctioning Officers
snowgod (Phil Ackley)
No player shall hold an office with the intent of disrupting the business of that office as defined in the rules. For the purposes of this rule any player doing so will be known as "the offender". . . .

It seems that the passage of this rule, while not affecting Malenkai's candidacy, could severely hamper his score and net worth if he were elected. Although (hey, I can play politics) I voted for this rule for that reason, players may determine the overall efficacy of 747 for themselves.

I expect that if Malenkai is elected and then 747 passes, Malenkai will resign as CSRR, and a new election will need to be held. So, cut down on your E-mail volume. Vote for The Governor for CSRR Officer.
