Notes: An exciting game, featuring offensive bursts by both teams. There were several defensive highlights for the Weasels. To start the game, the leadoff batter for the Slow Moving Vehicles hit a line drive into right-center field. Newton cut it off running toward right field, as the runner tried to stretch his hit to a double. Newton fired a great throw to Chris at second base to tag out the runner. The next batter hit a sharp fly ball into left-center field that looked like it would get over Zook's head, but she immediately broke backward and was able to catch it while running back.
To start the top of the third inning, a batter lofted a popup into shallow right-center field. Newton and Mitch were playing too deep in the outfield to make a play, but Becky tracked it down from second base and managed to make a nice running catch.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Slow Moving Vehicles were threatening to catch up. The bases were loaded with one out. The batter at the plate had hit an out-of-the-park home run in the top of the third inning, and he launched a ball into deep left field. Tim sprinted back and was able to make the catch just at the base of the fence.
Zook hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the second inning, on a sharp line drive to right-center field that the outfielder couldn't manage to cut off. Chris hit a line drive to deep left-center field for a bases-empty triple to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. The offensive leaders for the Weasels were Chris (1 single, 1 double, and 1 triple in 3 plate appearances), Zook (1 triple and 2 walks in 3 plate appearances), Lucy (1 single and 1 walk in 2 plate appearances), Newton (1 single and 1 walk in 2 plate appearances), Andrea (1 single and 1 walk in 2 plate appearances), and Mitch (2 singles in 2 plate appearances).
