Note: The Weasels did not play very well during this game. The offense was, for the most part, unproductive. The defense was adequate, but not spectacular. For the first couple innings of the game, the opponents were playing short one player. As a result, they took a few automatic outs when batting, and had only 3 outfielders.. Despite this, the game was close until the very end. Going into the top of the 6th inning, there were approximately 4 minutes left on the clock, and the score was 10-7 -- the Weasels were down by three runs. Like the Weasels of old, they went to work. Nathan led off the inning with a single to the third baseman. Azzy followed with a single to center, moving Nathan to second base. Mitch struck out looking for the first out of the inning. Christine came up to bat and hit a single to right-center, scoring Nathan, and advancing Azzy to third base. Neil followed with an infield single, scoring Azzy, and advancing Christine to second base. Brandy singled to left, moving Christine to third and Neil to second. The Weasels were down by just one run, and Cory stepped to the plate. He got a triple to right, clearing the bases and scoring three runs. Crystal grounded out to the pitcher, but drove in Cory. Matt grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning, but the Weasels had scored a total of 6 runs in the inning, putting them 3 runs ahead of the opponents. Time was up, and the Weasels played tight defense in the bottom half of the inning, holding the Renegades scoreless, and preserving the win. Offensive highlights of the game included a triple and an in-the-park homerun by Cory, doubles by Azzy and Brandy, and a clutch single by Christine during the final rally. Defensively, Matt was most impressive -- in one inning he recorded all three outs. Despite a subpar overall performance, the Weasels managed to rally when it was needed, and won the game. Thanks a lot to Azzy for subbing, and thanks to Rob for keeping score.
